Vasilios P. Mantis was born in Viniani on July 7, 1935, the second child of Panteli Mantis and Eleni (Monia). On November 12, 1961, he married Elisaveth (Voula) Housiadas. Following their marriage, Vasili served as a chef at the hospital in Karpenissi. Together they were blessed with two daughters, Maria Eleni and Athanasia, both born in Greece. In 1966, Vasili immigrated to the United States to work as a chef, sponsored by Kostas Panou, and settled in Charlotte, NC. His family joined him one year later. Several years thereafter, their third daughter, Joanna, was born. He was a successful restaurateur in the Charlotte area, having owned many restaurants throughout his life. Vasili helped his brothers Pete, Nick, and George to establish themselves in Charlotte as well. He was a devoted family man with six grandchildren. He also served as President of Adelphotis Vinianiton "Oi Dodeka Apostoloi".
