• His parents were Evangelos and Vasiliki Karagiorgis of Viviani. 

• He married Eleftheria Karanikas, born in 1933, daughter of Nickolaos and Giannoula Karanika, from Ternovo (Papadia) in 1955. Her parents died when Eleftheria was at a very young age. 

• They had three children: one twin birth with Evangelos and Nikolaos (1957) and then Grigorios (1963). 

• In the earthquake in 1966, they relocated to Lamia and lived with Stavro’s sister Margarita, and in 1967, they immigrated to the USA with their children and found a new home in Winston-Salem, NC. 

• In Winston Salem they met with Eleftheria’s older sister, Polyxeni Kroustalis, who helped them start their new life. Stavros's brother Dimitri was living in Washington, DC.
