Evangelos S. Karagiorgis was born in 1957 in Lamia, Greece, to Stavros and Eleftheria Karagiorgis of Viniani. He is the older of twin brothers (his twin is Nicholaos), and he has a younger brother Gregorios. Their family immigrated to the United States after the 1966 earthquake in Viniani, beginning a new chapter rooted in hard work, faith, and family. They settled in Winston Salem, North Carolina, and afterwards Evangelos married Fotini A. Elefantis of Kalesmeno, Evrytanias in 1986. Together they raised two children, Eleftheria and Stavros.

In 2019, Evangelos remarried Alexandra Skilodimos, and lovingly embraced her son Ioannis Alexiou as his own.

Evangelos' daughter Eleftheria married Theodore T. Kazakos of Winston Salem, and they are the proud parents of three children (Anastasios, Evangelos, and Lydia). His son Stavros is married to Georgia Galatas of Charlotte, North Carolina.
