Evangelia "Angie" Kroustalis was born in Viniani, Evrytanias on December 15th, 1944 to Vasilios and Chrisoula Nikopoulos. Her two siblings were Athanasios Nikopoulos and Sotiria (Vrekos). Evangelia spent much of her early life in Viniani, until in 1967 (when she was at 23 years of age) she made her first visit to America at the invitation of her brother Athanasios "Tom" Nixon and his wife Laura. She stayed with them until her return to Greece in 1970.

It was there, at a "Panegiri” near Viniani, that she met her future husband Gregorios "Greg" Kroustalis. Gregorios (1945-2021) was from the village of Papadia (Ternovo), and was the son of Georgios and Olga Kroustalis. Angie and Greg married a few months later and made the decision to immigrate to America, where they (like many other families from the region near Karpenisi) settled in Charlotte, NC. They started a family and had two sons: Georgios and Vasilios. Angie was a devoted and loving mother and was of indispensable help to Greg with his Bar-B-Que restaurants. She was a proud member of the "Daughters of Evrytania" and the "Philoptochos Society", where she made many life-long friends. The Kroustalis family were also proud members of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Charlotte, NC, as well as the Evrytanian Association, Velouchi, and Adelphotis Vinianiton. They left behind a proud Greek legacy to their sons who carry on the memories of their parents to their own families.
