Aristides Z. Nikopoulos (also known as Harry Z. Nixon) was born in Viniani, Evrytanias on November 8th, 1884 to Zaharias D. Nikopoulos (born 1846) and Paraskevi Z. Alataris. His siblings were Dimitrios, Georgios, and an unknown third sibling. At the age of 15, Aristides went to Constantinople to find work. He later married Fotini Nikolaou Kostopoulou (August 18th, 1892─August 16th, 1977), who was from Anatoliki Fragista. Afterwards, he immigrated to America in 1917, and may have temporarily lived in Palestine, Texas before finally settling in Fort Worth, Texas. It is believed that Soterios Kostopoulos (a possible relative) may have already been there to welcome him. In 1919, he arranged for Fotini to join him in America. It was at this time that Texas experienced the oil boom of the early 20th century, leading to rapid development and a trend of mass migration to the state. Among those migrants were a considerable number of Greeks, many of whom settled in East Texas and began their own businesses—most commonly diners and restaurants.

Aristides himself would go on to open several restaurants, and at one point ran five of them simultaneously. When the Great Depression reversed much of the economic progress that the Texas oil boom created, Aristides lost all of his businesses. Even so, he persevered and rebuilt his life. Aristides and Fotini would have two children: Stillianos A. Nikopoulos (also known as Steele Harry Nixon, December 5th, 1920─July 10th, 2018) and Achileas A. Nikopoulos (also known as Achilles Harry Nixon, February 28th, 1923─October 5th, 1990). Both of their sons were enlisted during─and became veterans of─World War II, with Achilles serving in the US Army Air Corps in the 451st Bombardment Group, spending seven months in Italy, and participating in fifty missions as a tail and side gunner, and Steele serving in the US Army. After their military service, Achilles became a petroleum geologist, and Steele became a mechanical engineer. Steele married Gabrielle Stagg in 1950, and they had nine children: Mary, Edward (Ned), Sarah, Paul, Claire, Emily, Madeleine, Steele Jr. (Ti-Steele), and Amy. Achilles married Constance Pias (whose parents came from the area of Nafpaktos) in 1958, and they had two sons: John Achilles Nixon, and Michael Aristides Nixon. Aristides will be remembered for the resilience he showed in not only immigrating to an unfamiliar country and building a successful career, but in doing so twice. ADDENDUM On two of Aristides' grandsons, John and Michael: John (who is married to Ellyn) is an ordained Deacon at St. John the Baptist, Greek Orthodox Church in Las Vegas, Nevada, and is the great-great-great-grandson of Reverend Nikolaos Nikopoulos (born in 1796) who served as the priest in Viniani in the mid-1800's. Deacon John is the only modern day Greek Orthodox clergy from the Nikopoulos family tree. Michael resides in Plano, Texas with his wife Beth and their three sons: Alexander, Jordan, and Zachary. After the birth of his first son in 1999, Michael reverted his last name from Nixon to the original family surname of Nikopoulos.
