Anthoula was born in Viniani on July 18th, 1938 to Filipos and Ekaterini Nikopoulos. She married Panagiotis Sklapanis (whose family came from Epiniani) on July 27th, 1969, and they immigrated to America the same year. Her husband worked in the restaurant business for most of his life, and became a partner in the Four Seasons drive-in, and later at Cagney's Place until he retired. Anthoula was a stay at home mother. They had three daughters: Maria, Eleni, and Politimi.
