He was born in 1933 in Viniani to Filipos Nikopoulos, and came to the United States in the early 50s where he was promptly drafted into the Korean War. Married Katina Perrou from the island of Samos in 1958.

He lived a rich life, having four kids (Phillip, Argiro (Roula), Georgia, and Angela) and nine grandchildren, and remained married to his wife for over 55 years.
