Panagiotis was born in Viniani to Pantelis & Eleni Mantis. He was one of nine children, all of whom were boys. In 1962, he married Panagiota Karanikas of Viniani. Together they raised three daughters: two born in Greece (Eleni and Georgia) and a third born in America (Roula). In 1973, he immigrated to America at the invitation of his older brother Vasili, and worked in the restaurant business throughout his life. He passed away in 2006 at the age of 68 from Alzheimer's disease, and was buried in the cemetery of New Viniani next to his parents.
