Nikolaos was born in Viniani to Pantelis and Eleni Mantis. He immigrated to America in 1973, then returned home a few years later, where he wed his wife Fotini Tragdaras of Anatoliki Fragista. They returned to America in 1977, where they settled in Charlotte, NC, where they started their family. They had three children: Pantelis (Lee), Dimitrios (Jimmy), and Georgia. Nick was an exceptional chef, worked at Matthews Family House, the Airport Diner, and the Athens Restaurant, and spent his last twelve years as the owner of the Mountain View Restaurant in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, which he operated along with his wife Fotini. He was involved with the Evrytanian Association of America, and Adelphotis Vinianiton. He was a devoted father, husband, and grandfather, and was an avid North Carolina Tar Heels fan.
