George was born April 14th, 1944 in Viniani, Evrytania to George and Maria (Papaspiros) Mantis. He had four siblings: Penelope, Serafim, Socrates, and Vasiliki. He married Eleni Dallas─the daughter of Athanasios and Ekaterini Dallas─on June 29th, 1965. They would go on to have two daughters, Maria (born April 2nd, 1966) and Athena (born September 2nd, 1968).

Working on a bulldozer was one of his passions, and he helped create many roads in Evrytania.

In 1969, George came to the United States alongside his mother at the invitation of his brother Serafim, and worked with Sam in his restaurant until his untimely death a few months afterwards.

George was a very loving, kind, and gentle man. He always had a smile on his face and had a wonderful sense of humor. He embraced life and was an inspiration to all who met him. Above all, he loved and cherished his wife Eleni and his daughters. He will continue to be missed by all who knew him.
