Dimitrios was born August 8th, 1954 in Viniani, Evrytania to Antonios Antonopoulos and Vasiliki Panou (daughter of Antonios and Spiridoula Panou). He attended Viniani's local elementary school during Nikolaos Bakogiannis' tenure as teacher. Later on, he enrolled in the technical school in Karpenisi and studied gasoline and diesel engine mechanics, as well as lathe applications. After completing his studies, he immigrated to America in 1969 alongside his mother, where they settled in Charlotte, North Carolina. He continued his studies in HVAC (heating and AC systems) which became his occupation. In 1981, he met Ciba Hagler, the daughter of David (a lieutenant colonel in the US Army and a helicopter pilot) and Jackie Hagler. The couple then moved to Greece, where they married and settled shortly afterwards. In 1990, Dimitri and Ciba welcomed the birth of their daughter Alexis, whom was baptized at the monastery of Prossou. As a teenager, Alexis attended St. Lawrence Academy in Athens, and upon graduating continued her studies in Cardiff, Wales, UK, where she still resides with her partner Alex Jones. In February of 2025, they welcomed their first daughter, Xenia. Dimitri has one sister (Maria), who is married to Panagiotis Makkas. They live in Greece with their three sons: Lambros, Antonis, and Vasilis.
